I first met Holly and Brad last year. I remembered when they first walked into my studio. My heart just melted. I was just so in love with how much in love they were. We talked for what felt like hours as I think it probably was. When they left my studio I felt like I just sat down with some of my clostest friends. These are connections with my clients that truly strive to build. The next day Holly called to book me and I could not have been more excited. Her and brad are truly two people that are meant to be and they just let their love shine into thier relationship and the relationships they have with all their family and friends.
With that being said it was truly my honor to document their wedding back in August.
Please take a peak into thier day. They were married in a cute little church outside of Merrill and the reception was held in Wausau. They were truly surrounded by their family and friends. I don't think I have ever seen a bride and groom dance so much or have so many fun with their guests. I had SO much documenting their day 🙂
Thank you Holly and Brad for letting me be apart of such a special part of your lives.
1. How did you first meet? (Who/What/When/Where/Why)
I was actually dating a friend of Brad's in High School. We only dated for about a month, but in that time I had gone to Brad's hunting shack and to Brad's house with my old boyfriend (talk about awkward- going to the hunting shack and sitting with a bunch of guys I had never met for the first time…). Brad was always such a nice guy-he even fixed my key chain one time 🙂 I knew I was going to break up with my old boyfriend, soon because we just did not click, but was going to wait until after Christmas, because I had gotten him a present already. About a week before Christmas on our walk from Gym to History, Brad told me that my old boyfriend was going to buy me a nice necklace, and I didn't want him to spend all that money when I was just going to break up with him anyways, so later that night I broke up with my boyfriend. After Christmas, Brad and I started hanging out A LOT-(my friends were a big help in this Brittany, Jessica, and Dani were always thinking of some ways that we could hang out…ha ha). About a month later we started dating through an all so "romantic" text message on January 28, 2006 that started with me asking: So what are we? Just friends or more than friends? Brad's reply- Well whatever you want to be…I don't mind. Me- Of course I want to be more than just friends 🙂 We have been together ever since.
2.When did you know that he was the one?
Brad is one of the most generous and caring men I know. I think when I truly knew that he was the one when he got along perfectly with my younger sister (they often pulled not very nice pranks on me), and when he took off the whole week of the Fair to help out with our animals that we show 🙂
3. Tell me about the proposal (did you see it coming/how long was it in the planning)?
After we had graduated from college, we celebrated our 6 year anniversary. I was trying to drop hints like crazy to get engaged. I even talked him into to stopping at Kay Jewlers in the mall once- just to get my finger sized correctly…just in case 🙂 About a month before, Brad and his family kept bringing up the fact that in a few more months it would just be Common Law that we were dating for 7 years (even though that is not in effect anymore) so why get married? I would get so angry about this because really? what girl doesn't want a big beautiful wedding??? On the morning of May 4, 2012 I was babysitting my godson, Tavin and his sister Brynlee and Brad came over to help. After lunch we were able to head home. Once at my house, we went to sit on the porch swing because it was finally a beautiful day. We sat there and talked about some stuff like what we were going to plant in the garden and stuff. The whole time, I could tell something was wrong. Brad kept taking deep breaths and was pretty quiet. I kept asking if something was wrong but he replied everything was fine. Finally he stood up and got down on one knee and proposed. I had no idea!!! I was so happy and excited that FINALLY this day had come 🙂 He told me he had the ring for about a month (and he picked it out by himself) and was just waiting for the right time to propose. He also wanted to ask my mom to be able to marry me, which he was able to do at my sister's birthday party the week before. I was wearing a shirt that was covered in baby peas.
4. Tell me one thing you love most about each other.
The thing I love most about Brad is his willingness to help anyone do anything and how well he is with little kids (they all love him!)
5. Besides getting married, what was the one thing you looked forward to on your wedding day.
On our wedding day I looked forward to seeing family and friends that we haven't seen in a while.
6. What inspired your wedding theme decor?
I love the color purple, and so I started looked on Pinterest and saw some ideas with dark purple dresses and sunflowers in the bouquet…I LOVED IT!
7. What is the one thing you would have done differently?
I wish there was more time in a day to be able to see and visit with all of your family and friends that came to celebrate your big day! It was so hard to see everyone, especially when you are out on the dance floor the whole time!
8. Any advice for newly engaged couples planning their wedding?
Try to do as much as you can early and not the week before because you will never have time for it!! There were a lot of crafty things I wanted to do but kept procrastinating about doing them…so they didn't get done!
