I read this on a post today and I just had to share as its so TRUE ” Don’t pay attention to what other people think. Don’t worry about how you’ll be perceived by old friends, distant relatives, or strangers. At the end of the day, you’re the one who has to live with your decisions, so anyone else’s approval shouldn’t matter. Also, trust your gut, because it’s led you in the right direction so far.”
This is something that truly opened my eyes as sometimes we just get so wrapped up with life that you forget. Being a business owner is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. As you are always trying to make everyone happy, and worrying about what other people think of you. When I opened my photography business is was for the love of the craft. However, along the way I needed to learn how to market, to be an accountant, a web designer, along with many other “hats” that I have to wear. And in the middle of that I truly have forgotten what its like to live my life. So in February, I took the “BIG LEAP” to go into photography full time to get “my time back” however, I think I am now more “IN” my business that I was ever before when I was doing it part time which don’t get me wrong its great for my business, just not so great for my family. Recently, I sat down with my friend Molly for a mentoring session and she asked me what my mission statement was…. I just looked at her after a pause…. and said I just really love treating my clients like family. I love giving them an experience that will last a lifetime to truly make me different than all the other photographers. (I will be doing a blog post about the experience soon). After I left my full-time job I really did some “sole seeking” to figure out what I wanted out of my business and what direction I really wanted it to go. It has taken me about 6 months to truly figure this out and start branding myself in this direction. As at the end of the day I want my business to be something that I can be proud of and my clients are more then excited to come to as they know they will get treated like family.
As every blog post needs a picture and since we are talking about family here is a family picture from a recent session! Have a great day friends!!
